Overview
Pureflow’s Trickle Filters are fixed-bed, aerated biotower filters engineered to convert toxic nitrogen waste into harmless byproducts—making them ideal for aquaculture, RAS, and hatchery applications. Each biotower is packed with high-surface-area PE bioballs that promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms. As water trickles through the media, biological activity facilitates effective TAN (Total Ammonia Nitrogen) removal and supports critical gas exchange to balance CO₂ and O₂ levels.
Our biotower range supports TAN removal capacities from 10 g/day to 1800 g/day, handling biomass loads from 10 kg up to 2600 kg at a 4% feeding rate. These biological filters are ideal for both freshwater and marine aquaculture systems, offering reliable, low-maintenance solutions when combined with other RAS components.
Trickle filters suit various biologically loaded systems and remain a trusted method for ensuring healthy aquatic environments across hatcheries and fish farms.
The Trickle bio-tower Filters, receive pre-filtered biologically charged water which trickles through biomedia (PE bioballs). The media surface offers the layer onto which a biomass of microorganisms is thriving by removing the ammonia through chemical reactions. They are designed to maintain the conditions for maximum microorganism population growth and dead zone elimination. The Trickle filtration is the traditional solution for high TAN Load Removal, by maximizing the wastewater trickling surface, and by optimizing gas exchange.
All the supported components of the MAT-KULING Ozone Generators are repairable and replaceable.
